The case of the burning hay wagon…

I don’t know why this dream was selected from my memory bank, nor do I believe I had thought of this event in the past 60+ years but it came to me today and thought it might be something my family can recall as well.

We were still living on the farm and I must have been 12 or 13.

Dad was pulling wagon load of hay on a section of Route 7 east of Borellis. Something incinerated the loaded hay.

Dad pulled the Farmall tractor and wagon off to the slide of the road and unhitched to prevent having the tractor catch on fire as well.

I wasn’t with Dad but I think I recall coming from Bramanville and seeing the burned out wagon.  Maybe Mom had packed us kids up and drove over to the site

Afterwards there was speculation that a cigarette butt had been thrown onto the day.
